Services
Build a bookable service — its duration, buffer times, per-currency pricing, variants, and per-stylist rates — and how each one reaches your booking page.
A service is the single most important thing in your catalog — it's the treatment a client actually books. Everything else hangs off it: categories group services, packages bundle them, and your calendar, payroll, and reports all count them. Open Services under Catalog, then hit Add service to build your first. Editing the catalog is reserved for managers and owners.
Anatomy of a service
Every service carries a handful of fields, all set in the create-and-edit panel:
- Name and Description — what a client reads on the booking card. Keep the blurb to a line; people skim.
- Category — the section it appears under when booking. Optional: uncategorised services still work, they just collect in an Unassigned row.
- Available at — which branches offer it. Leave it on all of them, or scope it to specific locations. See Multi-branch.
- Duration — how long it takes, from 5 minutes to 10 hours. This is the block it holds on the calendar.
- Price — the standard charge, priced per currency (below).
- Active — the on/off switch. Off pulls it from booking without deleting it.
When a service lives at a single branch you can also link the Required resources a booking must reserve — a room, chair, or machine — see Resources.
Create a service
Name it, describe it, categorise it
Hit Add service, fill in the Name and an optional Description, then pick a Category so it lands in the right section of your booking page.
Choose where it's bookable
Under Available at, tick the branches that offer it — or leave it on all of them. Scope it to exactly one branch and you can also attach the resources it needs.
Set the time and the price
Enter the Duration and a price for each currency your branches sell in. Leave Active on to publish it right away, or off to save a draft that's hidden from booking. The hero image is added from the Image tab once the service is saved.
Pricing across branches and currencies
If all your branches share one currency, you set a single Price. The moment your selected branches span two currency markets — say a UAE branch and an Egypt branch — the field becomes Pricing per currency: one figure per currency. Each branch then automatically bills in its own, so you set AED 120 and EGP 900 once and never think about it again. The full model — how variants, add-ons, per-stylist rates, and tax stack on top — lives in How pricing works.
Omit a currency — never zero it out
Gloora doesn't allow a free service. Every currency you show a price field for must be above 0, and a blank field blocks the save. If a branch simply doesn't offer a service, leave that branch's currency off rather than pricing it at zero — a stray 0 used to ship accidentally-free treatments, so the app now refuses it outright.
Buffer times
Beyond the visible duration, a service can reserve a Prep buffer before it starts and a Cleanup buffer after it ends — setup, a room reset, paperwork. The calendar blocks the stylist for the whole span (prep + service + cleanup), so back-to-back bookings never collide and your team always has turnaround time. Both show on a service's Profile tab; a buffer of 0 simply means no extra time is held.
The detail page
Click any row on the services list to open its detail page, which fans out into tabs:
- Profile — a read-only summary of every field, buffers included.
- Variants — sub-versions of the service (below).
- Stylist pricing — per-stylist rates (below).
- Resources, Image, and Activity — physical resources, the hero photo, and a log of recent changes.
Variants — one service, several tiers
A haircut priced by length, a massage by the half-hour: open the Variants tab and use Add variant to add sub-versions, each with its own price and duration. Mark one as the Default variant and it's pre-selected whenever a client skips the choice. Variants inherit the parent's currency scope, so a multi-currency service gets a price field per currency here too.
Per-stylist pricing
Charge more for a senior stylist and less for a junior on the Stylist pricing tab. It lists every team member who can perform this service — leave a rate blank and they charge the standard price; type one and the total re-prices to their rate the moment a client picks them. A booking left on "Any professional" always charges the standard price. Which staff can perform a service is set on each team member's page, not here — see Team & roles.
On your booking page
An active service appears on your public booking page inside its category. When a client picks it they choose a variant if it has any, tack on any optional add-ons, and — if they select a specific stylist — watch the total re-price to that stylist's rate. The prep and cleanup buffers quietly reserve the right block on your calendar.
To retire a service, switch Active off — it vanishes from booking while its history stays intact. Deleting one is permanent, but bookings already made with it stay intact; you simply can't create new ones.
